Scanning

Sometimes we are unable to locate a copy of a reading to add to your course.  If this is the case, you will be asked to bring copy of a reading to the Library for us to scan.  These copies can be dropped off at the Circulation Desk on the main floor of the Library.

The following information needs to be included with the copy:

  • Course code
  • Your name

The Library will scan the reading and add the digital copy to your course.

Guidelines for Scanned Materials

A small portion of a resource can be copied and shared, for educational purposes, under the Toronto Metropolitan Universiy Fair Dealings Guidelines. However, you must keep in mind the limits on the amount of a resource that can be reproduced:

  • 10% of less of an entire print resource
  • Up to one chapter of a book (One chapter can exceed 10%)
  • One article per issue of a journal (One journal article can exceed 10%)

A reading that exceeds these limits will require that the Library ask for permission from the copyright owner.
