Courtesy Notices

Patrons will receive a courtesy reminder 2 days before materials are due and again when items are 1 day late. The Library does not assume  responsibility for non-receipt of courtesy notices. It is the sole responsibility of the borrower to ensure that materials are returned or renewed on time. Failure to return and or renew a borrowed item on or before the due date or time will incur a late fee. Failure to pay fines and penalties will result in the eventual loss of borrowing privileges and  marks will be withheld by the University. This measure does not prevent students from registering for their courses.

You can renew items online through Your Library Account.

Penalties & Calculations

Not returning an item will result in charges for lost materials.

Failure to pay fines and penalties will result in the eventual loss of borrowing privileges and marks will be withheld by the University. This measure does not prevent students from registering for their courses.

For fines calculated by the day, fines accrue for each day an item is overdue including weekends. However, books do not fall due when the Library is closed. Fines are not charged for days when the Library is closed. Late charges  begin to accrue at 12:01 A.M. on the day after the due date. If an item is more than 40 days overdue, your record will be charged the replacement cost of the item.

The Library will e-mail overdue and fine notices to the e-mail address on file. Borrowing privileges are suspended for an unpaid fine of $20 or more. All fines and outstanding charges are to be cleared by the end of each term to avoid having marks withheld.

How to Pay

All fines must be paid directly to the Library at the Circulation Desk, either by cash, Interac (debit), VISA, MasterCard, American Express or the Ryerson OneCard.   The Library also accepts payment by phone. Please call (416) 979-5055 “Option 2”. We do not accept personal cheques.
