FAQ: Contactless Print Pickup

I have my assigned pickup date and time, but I can’t make it. What should I do? 

You may make any changes needed to your appointment slot within Google Calendar.  If you experience difficulty, simply email us at access@ryerson.ca to arrange for a new pickup date and time.

We will keep your item(s) in your pickup bag for 5 business days, but you must change your appointment slot or contact us at access@ryerson.can for a new pickup date and time.

With your health and safety in mind, we are limiting the pickup line to those with appointments.

What is the wait time for requested items?

Pickups will usually be available within 3-4 business days. You may be contacted earlier. If there is high demand for available print items, it may take longer to provide you with a pickup appointment slot.

If I’m not able to pick-up, how can I get the print items that I need?

If you only need an article or a book chapter, we may be able to scan that content and send it to you.  Within reason, you can also contact us at access@ryerson.ca to request that the items be mailed to your home.

The items I need are currently checked out, what do I do?

Since March 16, the Library has been unable to recall books due to COVID-19. We are now allowing the return of items which are being re-shelved following a 72 hour quarantine. We will do our best to provide the books that you request, but there may be some books that we are unable to provide access to at this time.

Can I request items from other Libraries?

Interlibrary Loan for print books is not available at this time. The Library will update information as additional services resume.

How many books can I request through the contactless Print Pick-up service? 

You can request up to 10 items at a time.

How do I return items that I have checked out?

Items can now be returned to the Ryerson Library, via the Lower Ground entrance.  Instructions for how to return your books will be emailed to you with your pickup notice; like pickups, returns need to be scheduled. Use the buzzer at Lower Ground to request building entry from Ryerson Security.  You will need your OneCard.  Book Return Bins have been set up just inside the entryway on Lower Ground.  You will be required to exit the Building immediately after dropping your items in the bins provided.

I cannot come to Campus, how can I return my items?

Library items can be sent by mail to the Ryerson Library:

Can I access the building to use a washroom?

The Library Building remains closed. A public washroom on the Lower Ground level will be open during the hours of the Print Pick-up Service and cleaned daily.

What materials are available for pickup?

At this time we are offering access to print books that are not available electronically.
