Research Assistance

Research assistance is provided in the following ways: 

Email reference assistance: please email lawrefdesk@ryerson.ca for assistance with accessing or using legal information resources and one of the Law Library staff will respond to you.

Research Help Appointments: Please email the Law Librarian john.papadpoulos@ryerson.ca for one-on-one assistance in refining a legal research topic, finding legal information, and using databases and other resources. Currently, all Law Library research help appointments are being conducted virtually through Zoom or Google Meets.

Virtual appointments are available between 10 a.m and 4 p.m. Monday to Friday.  Please allow at least 24 hours for a librarian to contact you after submitting your request.  We will, however, do our best to contact you sooner.

Subject Research Guides

The Law Library is developing research guides for each of the subjects in the Faculty of Law’s  curriculum. These guides will provide students with access to the key primary and secondary resources available via the Ryerson Library.

Law Research Guide

Instruction

The Law Library will provide instructional sessions on legal research generally as well as research as it applies to specific areas of law as requested by faculty and instructors. Until the Library buildings fully re-open, all instructional sessions will be conducted virtually through Zoom or Google Meets.

Secondary Legal Resources

Contactless Print Pickup

The Ryerson Library is pleased to offer Contactless Print Pickup Service for print books that are not available electronically. This service is open to Ryerson community members with an active OneCard.

Scan and Deliver

The Library offers a Scan and Deliver service for Ryerson students and employees with a valid OneCard.  Scans of articles and single book chapters may be requested when there is no electronic copy available. Documents will be delivered via email.

Requests for material can be made from Search Everything and the Library Catalogue by completing a Scan and Deliver Request Form for each item to be scanned. More information is available on our Scan and Deliver Service page
