Reading Room Policies

Food and Drink

Cold “finger” food, such as fruit, granola bars, and cold sandwiches can be eaten in the Library to help maintain your energy level while studying, but please ensure that you dispose of your waste and recycling in the appropriate bins. No hot food can be eaten in the Law Library – please use the lounge areas outside the Law Library. Users in violation of the food and drink policy may be asked to discard their food, store it out of sight (e.g. in a bag or knapsack) or leave the Law Library.

Drinks in spill-proof cups/screw-top bottles are acceptable. We encourage students to be environmentally-friendly by carrying re-useable mugs for coffee or screw-top bottles for water to limit unnecessary waste.

Thank you for helping us maintain a clean and welcoming study environment for all students.

Quiet Study

The Law Library is intended as a place of quiet study. Quiet conversations are allowed as long as they are not disruptive. Students that need a silent environment are encouraged to use the 10th floor of the main library, as it is a silent floor, or to request earplugs from the reading room desk.
