The Ryerson University Library & Archives (RULA) welcomes gifts in kind that meet our acceptance guidelines, but due to space constraints and processing costs, we accept very few donations. RULA does consider offers of unique or rare books, personal papers and collections. Please see the A&SC Collections Policy or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information about the donations process.
We do not accept donations of used books and/or textbooks. The following are organizations that may be suitable for donations of used books:
Donations of collections valued at less than $1,000 may be appraised by experienced library staff. In accordance with Canada Revenue Agency guidelines, Ryerson University requires collections valued at more than $1,000 to be assessed by an expert independent appraiser.
If the donation is accepted, the donor is required to sign a Gift In Kind Donation Agreement that will be supplied by the Library.
The Library will accept only unconditional donations. We reserve the right to retain or dispose of donated material according to the needs of the University. Once offered and accepted, donations become the property of the Library and cannot be returned to the donor.
All donations must be in accordance with the university’s Coordination of Donation Appeals and Gift Acceptance Policy.
RULA welcomes gifts of books written by Ryerson faculty, which can be sent directly to the Archives for the attention of Curtis Sassur: email@example.com 416-979-5000 ext. 6900.
Contact Director of Development, Joanna Beyersbergen, 416 979-5084 or firstname.lastname@example.org for information about cash donations to the Library or the Archives and Special Collections.
