The Library accepts only gifts of books, journals, magazines, and other materials that are rare or unique, and may enhance our holdings in areas of stated research interest to Ryerson University.

RULA reviews offers of unique or rare books, personal papers and collections in a separate process conducted by Archives and Special Collections. See A&SC Collections Policy information for Potential Donors.

RULA continues to welcome gifts of books written by Ryerson faculty which can be sent to the Coordinator of Special Collections and Archives, Curtis Sassur: 416-979-5000 ext. 6900.

Donations of collections valued at less than $1,000 (only one donation per donor will be accepted in a given year) may be appraised by experienced library staff.  In accordance with Canada Revenue Agency requirements, collections valued at more than $1,000 must be assessed by an independent appraiser, the cost of which will be covered by the donor.

If the donation is accepted, the donor is required to sign a Gift In Kind Form that will be supplied by the library.

The library will accept only unconditional donations. We reserve the right to retain or dispose of donated material according to the needs of the University.  Once offered and accepted, donations become the property of the Library and cannot be returned to the donor.

All donations must be in accordance with the university’s Coordination of Donation Appeals and Gift Acceptance Policy.
