10:30am – 11:30am
Ryerson librarian, Jane Schmidt, recently spent a year on study leave taking an in-depth look at the phenomenon of Little Free Libraries; she presents a critical analysis of the movement arguing that the incorporated non-profit’s mission and vision leaves much to be desired in terms of genuine impact on the communities it purports to serve. She will discuss her research and her thoughts on how the enthusiasm created by this popular movement could be harnessed to strengthen support for public libraries and increase its impact through partnerships and community-led principles.
All are welcome to drop in for this presentation.
