Calling all knit-nerds and yarn mavens! Join us for the Library’s Digital Media Experience (DME) Lab’s inaugural knitting class, Knitting 101, and get into the purl. In this two-session class on Monday, February 29 and Monday, March 7 from 11 am-12 pm (2 hours total), learn the knitting basics of how to cast on, knit, purl, cast off and how to read patterns and make yourself a pair of fingerless gloves. You’ll be decompressing from study stress as well as picking up new skills that will lead you to new dimensions of creativity.
The knitting skills learned at this beginner workshop will help students progress to future workshops planned around knit-wearable projects and computational fabrics / wearable computing.
Cost to attend is $15 (includes knitting needles and yarn). Please register online, and then pay for the kit at the Library’s Circulation Desk. Please bring the receipt to the workshop, which will take place in the DME Lab on the 3rd floor of the Student Learning Centre (SLC).
The regular knitting drop-in at 11 am on Mondays, Knit Happens, will still continue in the same space for the duration of the class.
