Showey Yazdanian

Showey (Showkat) Yazdanian was born in Leeds, England of Iranian and Eastern European descent. Her family moved to Toronto in 1987 when she was still a child. She went on to complete a B.Sc. in chemistry in Toronto in 2001 and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Western Ontario in 2004. Yazdanian earned a PhD in 2009 from Cornell University where her dissertation is entitled: “Scanned Probe Microscopy Studies of Thin Organic Films Using Cantilever Frequency Noise.” In addition to working as a scientist, Yazdanian writes for newspapers and magazines, maintains a blog, and will be making quite a splash with her first novel. She lives in Toronto.
