Fiction (Graphic novel)

Herman By Trade

London: SelfMadeHero, 2017.

Publisher’s Synopsis (From its website)

Herman is an introverted and unambitious street cleaner, his life as predictable as it is dull. Or so it seems to those he works with on the city’s waterfront. In fact, Herman is creative, curious and complex. What’s more, he has a remarkable hidden talent: the ability to transform his appearance at will.

An open casting call sees the city swept up into a frenzy of creative ambition. As a queue forms along the waterfront, Herman is emboldened to perform. But his decision to enter the audition room brings his creative and professional lives into conflict, and the consequences are irreversible.

Beautifully drawn, Herman by Trade is a captivating graphic novel about art, identity and making room for self-expression.

Fiction (Graphic novel)

Strays

London: SelfMadeHero, 2021.

Publisher’s Synopsis (From its website)

A young man fleeing a disaster comes to live in the city with his sister, making ends meet by taking a job as a delivery man… only to encounter a flood of old friends and acquaintances on his daily route. At first elated by the company of these waifs and strays, he finds that their desperation for work begins to trouble his conscience – but what happens when you can’t help everyone? In his distinctively detailed graphic style, Chris W. Kim presents an elusively disquieting parable of modern isolation, and of the ties that bind – or fail to bind – society together.
