Instructor and Student, School of Fashion, 1957-1958

fashion_crop-w-watermark-236x300The individual on the left is Professor Helen Hutko, who was a member of Ryerson’s first graduating class in 1950 and who taught in the School of Fashion from about 1952 to 1966. In the late 1950s, Fashion was one of three options offered under the Home Economics Course (the other two were Home Economics and Pre-School Education). Professor Hutko re-visited the Ryerson campus in October, 2000, along with other graduates from 1950, as the first graduating class was honored during the University’s Homecoming festivities.
