Message from the Chief Librarian
There is an amplified buzz and bustle in the Library these days that reflects the trajectory of Ryerson University – new programs, increased enrolment, and a creative synergy that is more than the sum of our parts. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the beautiful new Student Learning Centre (SLC), which is connected through the Library’s Ronald D. Besse Information and Learning Commons. The exceptional study space provided by the SLC has greatly expanded and enhanced the existing inventory of collaborative work rooms and seminar rooms that promote learning beyond the classroom. The many services of Student Learning Support are now on the SLC’s fourth floor, in one convenient location. And on the third you will find a new library initiative devoted to innovative and emerging technologies: the Isaac Olowolafe Jr. Digital Media Experience (DME) Lab. Open to all, this is the place to go to expand your digital horizons through learning, experimentation and creative exploration.
The DME is just the newest of many services that we provide to help keep our community current. Along with our growing digital inventory of information across all disciplines, the Library and Archives provide our scholarly community with a well-balanced collection of print and audio-visual resources. In addition, our liaison librarians work with students at all levels to ensure that their library research is as effective as possible.
Explore, interact, discover, learn – and be inspired!
