Synopsis from the Prologue

This is not a history. It is, however, a true story, for the events are real, although they happened to several people and in different circumstances and places than we describe. The authors have taken the writer’s liberty to choose the happenings and impose order and form on them. The result provides an intimate look at the lives and times of those Chinese who immigrated to Canada in the early twentieth century.
